WordPress: The Best CMS For SEO

Feb 16, 2021

Did you know that WordPress powers about 35% of the web. 35%! How mental is that? With a whole third of the internet is run on it, its definitely safe to say that WordPress is one of, if not the best, CMS around.

While there are many reasons why this is the case, one of the biggest ones is SEO.

What is SEO?

SEO which means Search Engine Optimisation is the process of improving and increasing the quantity and quality of website traffic to your website through organic search engines.

So whether your website is on WordPress or not, this blog will cover a few reasons why it should be if you want to rank well on search engines and generate traffic, which we're guessing is a given.

Our top 5 reasons why WordPress is amazing for SEO:

1. Functionality

WordPress is used by so many because it makes good-looking and professional websites that are user-friendly. Three of the top things that you want from your website.

It has so much functionality whether you're looking for a one-page, business site or even e-commerce!

2. Ease of updating metadata

It comes with the ability to update and change important factors that come to play in SEO. Permalinks, metadata and image optimisation all impact your search rankings so being able to easily update these and implement the keywords you want to rank for is a huge thumbs up!

3. Mobile Optimised

It's 2021. There is now a balanced share of traffic between desktop and mobile visits. That means, your website MUST be optimised for mobile. There really are no exceptions. Unless you don’t mind losing out on 50% of your traffic because your site doesn't function properly on their phone…

Most themes and plugins are all readily optimised for mobile usage to align with the importance of this!

4. Social

Maybe you’re wondering, what does social have to do with my website and SEO? Well, I'm glad you’re here! Because it has a lot to do with it! There is a bit of a life cycle with social which means that, indirectly, it can impact your sites search rankings and affect your overall reach.

The main thing to know is that valuable content on your social media accounts grows your brands' visibility and reputation, in turn leading to more visits to your website. By growing your community and audience on social, you are showing the search engines that you are a good source which will eventually lead to better rankings and usually, more leads or sales!

5. Plugins

I'm inclined to say that I think WordPress has a plugin for everything. I even find myself responding to mundane everyday questions with “there's probably a plugin for that”. And while maybe not quite literally, there are plugins for all the important things you need to optimise your site and improve your SEO.

Two of our favourites for SEO are Yoast SEO and Google Analytics by Monster Insights!
